I haven't re-read it yet so I don't want to say much more until I've had a chance to read it again and think some more.īut what is the deal with Orion? was there any foreshadowing that gives up any hints for the next book? I wasn't surprised with his decision to stay behind, but I think there is something more going on, but I can't come up with anything good. Of course I understand that there is a need for some repetition as not everyone is going to read the first book again, just before reading the 2nd one. Also, there was just too much repeating on background from the first book. Naomi Novik THE EXCITING FINALE TO THE SCHOLOMANCE TRILOGY Saving the world is a test no school of magic can prepare you for in the triumphant conclusion to the New York Times bestselling trilogy that began with A Deadly Education and The Last Graduate. I mean in particular El says that she is having daily or near daily battles with mals and in protecting the younger students on Wed., but yet there weren't many of them actually described, of course I didn't want there to be an endless repeating of mal battles, but a few more that emphasized her depleting mana stores and her exhaustion would have helped with that.

I've had time to think a bit more about why I found this book a bit disappointing and that is the first part is more "telling" rather than "showing".
